TROY, Ala. (AP) - Auburn cornerback Demond Washington and Troy receiver Jerrel Jernigan are on the watch list for the inaugural
Paul Hournng Award.
The award will be given annually to major college football's
most versatile player by the Louisville Sports Commission.
Washington and Jernigan are among 48 players named to the preseason
Jernigan is the fourth-leading receiver in Sun Belt Conference
history. He is also a return man and averaged 173 all-purpose yards
Washington played both cornerback and safety last season for the
Tigers and returned both punts and kickoffs. His 31-yard kick
return average led the Southeastern Conference and was an Auburn
record. Washington had a 99-yard kick return for a touchdown
