SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (AP) - Phil Mickelson's wild week has ended with a satisfying flourish, even though he won't win the PGA
It started with him disclosing he had psoriatic arthritis and
that he'd become a vegetarian.
Mickelson finally found the consistency he'd searched for all
week to the delight of his large following by chewing through
Whistling Straits on Sunday, finishing with a final round 67 to
complete the tournament at 6-under 282.
Mickelson won't leave Wisconsin as the world's No. 1 golfer,
either. He says he would've delayed his flight if he'd reached 9
under or better to watch the leaders. The four-time major champion
eagled the par-5 fifth and birdied three consecutive holes on the
back nine. He won the 2005 PGA.
