AUBURN, Alabama -- It appears pitcher Conner Kendrick's career at Auburn is over after his first year as the Tigers' ace.
The junior announced on Twitter late Saturday night that he intends to travel Monday to New York to end his career with Auburn and begin his new one with the Yankees organization. The left-hander out of Gulf Shores was drafted by New York in the ninth round of the MLB Draft on June 7.
He emerged from the bullpen this season, transitioning from a midweek starter to become the Tigers' ace on Friday nights. He finished 5-3 with a 2.13 ERA in 80 1/3 innings. He also led the Tigers with 75 strikeouts.
Kendrick transferred last fall from Northwest Florida State College.
