TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Crimson Tide football team held its first scrimmage of training camp inside Bryant-Denny Stadium under a steady rain on Saturday afternoon. Weather also forced a 40-minute delay midway through the scrimmage due to lightning.

"The scrimmage started out with really good intensity," said Alabama head coach Nick Saban. "We knew we were going to have some problems with the weather today, but I feel it was important for our team to be able to come here and scrimmage in the stadium and important for the game-administration side of using the press box, calling plays from the press box and all those types of things that if we had practiced indoors, we wouldn't have had an opportunity to do."

Junior Kenyan Drake led the Tide offense in both rushing and receiving with six carries for 88 yards and a touchdown on the ground in addition to four receptions for 65 yards. Junior T.J. Yeldon accounted for 35 yards on four rushes, while redshirt freshman Tyren Jones and sophomore Derrick Henry combined for 53 yards and two touchdowns.

Redshirt freshman Robert Foster had two receptions for 57 yards, followed closely by junior Amari Cooper, who finished with four receptions for 56 yards and a touchdown. Senior Christion Jones added two catches for 45 yards and a score, while redshirt freshman ArDarius Stewart had three receptions for 33 yards.

On the defensive side of the ball, sophomore Jonathan Allen posted a scrimmage-best five tackles, including two sacks. He was followed by junior Dillon Lee with four tackles, freshman Da'Shawn Hand with four tackles and a sack, sophomore Reuben Foster with three tackles and a sack and junior Reggie Ragland with three tackles.

"There are a lot of things we need to improve on," Saban added. "We have a long way to go in terms of developing a team. The players have to understand why good teams win, and they have to be willing to do the things to develop the habits that will make them successful on a consistent basis. That's what we are going to try and continue to work on over this next week."

The Crimson Tide will have Sunday off before returning for its third two-a-day of camp on Monday.
