Raiders & Eagles Playoff-Bound

Twenty of our local teams survived to play in the postseason. Our largest contingent is in Class 2A where eight squads will take a crack at the title. That includes a couple of local teams.

The Houston Academy Raiders get a home game Friday against Vincent from Shelby County. That’s quite an accomplishment for a team with 22 new starters this season. The 7-2 Raiders had last week off. So they got plenty of rest as the guys gear up for the postseason. Vincent comes in at 5-5.

Also in class 2A, the Providence Christian Eagles have to hit the road for Round 1. The 7-3 Eagles pay a visit to 8-2 Thorsby. Providence making the playoffs in its first year playing in the 2A ranks. But, they've lost some momentum with back-to-back losses. Coach Emory Latta hopes his guys will get back on track Friday up in Chilton County.
