Northview Football Team Searching for New Head Coach

The Wayne White era is over at Northview. The School has relieved White of his coaching duties, ending his three-year run as the Cougars Head Coach.

"Northview High School Head Football Coach and Athletic Director, Wayne White, will not be returning next season," Northview Principal Ron Snell said. "We appreciate the hard work and dedication he has put into the NHS football and athletic program over the past 6 years. Wayne has been and will continue to be a valuable member of the Northview high school faculty and will continue his teaching duties.

"His coaching and directors responsibilities will be handled internally for the short term. The search for a new head coach should begin soon and is expected to be filled in late January."

White took over at Northview in 2009, but failed to spark the Cougars struggling program. He went 7-23 during his three-year run, including a 3-7 record this season.

Northview hasn't made the playoffs since the 2000 season. The Cougars haven't won a region game since 2009.

White is a former player and assistant coach at Dothan High School. He was Northview's defensive coordinator for three years before becoming head coach in 2009.

White played college football at UAB.
