Neal Rumble Resigns as Rehobeth Head Football Coach

The Neal Rumble era is over at Rehobeth High School. Rumble resigned on Tuesday as Rebels Head Football Coach.

"You know, this is a great school here, and I've enjoyed my time here with these people," Rumble said. "It's a quality administration, a quality faculty, great people to be working with. I look forward to remaining in some capacity, somewhere, and hopefully I can be an asset in some other area."

Rumble's resignation closes a rocky year at Rehobeth. Many of the Rebels players walked out after the first week of the season, although most returned and finished the year.

Rehobeth went 2-8 this season, marking the program's sixth straight losing campaign, all under Rumble. He led Rehobeth to a 13-47 record during his six-year tenure, failing to reach the playoffs.

Rehobeth Principal Matt Swann says the school is committed to finding the right candidate for the job, no matter how long it takes.

"We're not going to just jump into this," Swann said. "We're going to take our time and we're going to figure out who the right person is, and that's who we'll pick."

Rehobeth hasn't made the playoffs since 2005. The Rebels haven't won more than three games since that 10-2 season, the last under previous coach George Kennedy.
