Thursday was supposed to mark the start of the high school football season for a handful of teams across the state. Some of those teams will have to wait another 24 hours to hit the field.
Rehobeth's home opener with Slocomb has been moved from Thursday to Friday night, in an effort to play in better weather. Brantley's home game has also been pushed back until Friday night. Both games will begin at 7 p.m.
Several local teams will play their first games on Thursday night. Northview will host Sidney Lanier at 7 p.m. at Rip Hewes Stadium. Goshen is also hosting Pike County, while in Florida, Marianna travels to Cottondale.
Friday features a full slate of games in Alabama, Georgia and Florida, as the regular season begins in all three states. AISA teams in Alabama will play their second week of games, after opening last Friday.
