Haynes leads Thomasville to 4A title in 59-34 win

AUBURN, Ala. (AP) - Tyler Hayes ran for two touchdowns, piling
up 240 all-purpose yards, as Thomasville beat Deshler 59-34 for the
Class 4A state football title Friday.

Hayes had a 77-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, and he added
a 19-yard scoring run in the victory.

The teams combined for 93 points total and 904 yards of offense
in what was the highest-scoring championship game since the Alabama
High School Athletic Association adopted its current Super 6
format.

Jay Gardiner led Deshler with a 49-yard touchdown run and 109
yards total on the ground. He finished as Deshler's all-time
leading rushing.

The state title games are being played at Jordan-Hare Stadium in
Auburn.
