The lights will be bright for the Elba Football Team on Friday. The Tigers are traveling to Tuscaloosa for the Class 2A Championship Game at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
There's no bigger stage in the state than Bryant-Denny, where legends have coached and played. This game can also make legends of players at the Super Six, creating memories that resonate across the state for years to come.
Elba hopes to make all of the right memories when they face Tanner for the 2A Title on Friday afternoon.
"We've got a chance to make history," senior defensive lineman Martin Henderson said. "We haven't been there since, I think, 1992. It's been a long time. That's crazy, so I'm happy and I'm ready for it."
While the Tigers are anxious to get their title shot, they acknowledge, there have been some nerves during practice this week. But, with so many experienced players on the roster, the team believes it can whether any storm and bring home the Super Six trophy to Coffee County.
"Butterflies man, butterflies," junior quarterback Austin Johnson said. "Maybe, it will all be over by the time we step on the field though.
"I knew it, as soon as we started the summer. I just had a good feeling that we were going to go all the way this year. Now, it's here."
Elba will face Tanner for the 2A Championship at 3:00 p.m. on Friday at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa. The game is being carried locally on MyNet, with a channel guide listed below.
