Dothan High senior wide receiver Adrian Kirkland hoped to turn some heads when he attended UAB's summer camp at Rip Hewes Stadium earlier this summer. It turns out, Kirkland was practicing in front of his future coaching staff.
Kirkland verbally committed to UAB on Sunday. He chose the Blazers over Troy.
Kirkland's appearance at the UAB camp earned him an invite to campus from head coach Garrick McGee. Once Kirkland traveled to Birmingham, he knew UAB was the place for him.
"I feel like it was a good opportunity, and they made me feel like I was at home," Kirkland said. "They've got a great coaching staff. I feel like they're going to make me feel like there's no better place than UAB. That's why I chose UAB."
Kirkland has played multiple positions for Dothan during his career, but he says he'll line-up at wide receiver for the Blazers. As a junior, Kirkland had 43 receptions for 430 yards and seven touchdowns.
