Dothan and Northview will make history when their football teams square off on the gridiron on Friday. The 35th edition of the City Showdown is the earliest meeting ever between the two schools.
The game is usually played at the end of the season, but it's taking place during the second week of the year this time around. The earlier kickoff means the stakes will be even higher at Rip Hewes Stadium.
Both teams are 1-0, and the winner on Friday will remain undefeated, and improve to 1-0 in Class 6A Region 2.
This game is also about bragging rights, and the week two kick hasn't changed that. Watch the attached video to see what both head coaches are saying just 24 hours before Friday's big game.
Also, make sure to tune into Friday Night Football at 10:35 this Friday on WTVY for complete highlights from this year's City Showdown.
