The Crestview Football Team is hoping for big things this season. The Bulldogs feature a roster loaded with talent.
Crestview went just 4-6 last season, but the Bulldogs return the majority of that team. And, the returning players are some of the most high profile in all of the panhandle.
Linebacker Dillan Lawson verbally committed to Florida earlier this year, although his recruitment is currently back open, with Lawson still considering Florida, Florida State and North Carolina among others.
Running back Micah Reed is committed to Central Florida. Lineman Tyler Henderson has offers from Duke, Kentucky and Mississippi State.
Arguably the team's top player is just a junior, with Denzell Ware holding offers from Ohio State, Alabama and Florida State among others.
Even players without offers offer years of experience. Quarterback Dakota Davis is back to run the offense, and he's got more veteran help from players like Alex Tillman, Tate Sweat and Josh Rephol.
With so much talent on the field, the Bulldogs have their eye on a playoff run, and the team has picked one word to sum up their goals for the upcoming season.
"Hoka Hey is an ancient Sioux word that means 'it's a good day to fight', so that's what we talk to our kids about every day," Crestview Head Coach Kevin Pettis said. "Every Friday night, we've just got to show up and fight. Who cares about the scoreboard?
"If we w just forget about the scoreboard, focus on the process, forget about the results, the results take care of themselves, and focus on the process and play Hoka Hey football. It's a good day to fight."
Crestview opens the regular season at home, hosting Milton on Friday.
