Chipley Seniors Hope to Go Out on Top

This year's Chipley Football Team has a particularly close bond. The Tigers have 12 seniors, and many of them are the driving force behind Chipley's run to the Class 1A Championship Game.

The Tigers will play Jefferson County for the 1A title on Friday at 6:00 p.m. at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando. This will be the final game for a group of seniors who've played together for years in Washington County.

And, those players can see only one way to go out, on top as state champions.

"It's so special, because we've been talking about it before the season, how we wanted to make a state run," Tigers senior running back Ryan McIntyre said. "Ever since we were little, we've been talking about making a state run. It's just amazing for the guys."

The players know they'll always remember this season, one that started with a dream, and is ending at the 1A Title Game in Orlando.

"It's very special with these guys," Tigers senior quarterback Josh Myers said. "We've been friends for a while. It's great to play with them, our senior year, and it's a great way to go out."

Chipley will try to make history on Friday night, playing for the school's first-ever state championship in football. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando.
