Chipley Hires Chip Harris as Head Football Coach

The Chipley Football Team has a new head coach. Conversely, the Ashford Football Team is looking for a new leader on the gridiron.

Chip Harris is Chipley's new head coach. Harris comes to Washington County from Ashford, where he coached the Yellow Jackets for three seasons.

Under Harris, Ashford went 20-12, including an 0-2 mark in the playoffs. Ashford went 6-4 in 2011, missing the post-season.

He takes over a Chipley squad that played for the 1A state title last season, falling to Jefferson County 41-7 in the championship game in Orlando.

Harris replaces Rob Armstrong, who left earlier this year to become the new head coach at Berrien County in Georgia.

This will be a homecoming for Harris, who graduated from Chipley in 1990. The school board is expected to approve Harris' hiring on April 9th.

Harris has previous head coaching stops at Ashford, Northview, Marbury and Houston County.

THE SCHOOL BOARD IS EXPECTED TO APPROVE HARRIS' HIRING ON APRIL 9TH.
