The Troy Football Team watched in February, as premier local players like Daleville's Chris Stone and Goshen's Marcus Jackson picked other Sun Belt schools on National Signing Day.
So, the Trojans are doing their best to put a wall around the Wiregrass, keeping the best local talent at home. Less than two weeks after Elba's Michael Lindsey verbally committed to Troy, the Trojans received a pledge from Daleville running back Brandon Burks.
The Warhawks senior has rushed for more than 1,200 yards and scored nearly 30 touchdowns this season, with two games still to play. Now, he's ready to take his talents to Troy, and spend the next four years helping the Trojans compete for Sun Belt titles.
"As a Trojan... I like it," Burks said. "I'm a running back with different qualities. I've got good hands and I've got good feet. I think they can use me quite a bit as anything they shall, kick returner, receiver, running back... quite a few."
Burks chose Troy over UAB and Arkansas State.
