The Bay Football Team took it's lumps under first year head coach Jimmy Longerbeam in 2011. The Tornadoes went 3-7, missing the playoffs in Class 5A.

But, the team has high hopes entering 2012. The Tornadoes return several key pieces from last year's team.

Longerbeam knows his team battled through it's share of growing pains last season, but he believes they've come out the other side a stronger team, one that can contend for a playoff spot this time around.

"The kids have been great," Longerbeam said. "This group of kids has been really good. They've done everything we've asked them to do.

"We had a great off-season and a great summer, so we're just kind of excited about getting going."

Bay opens the regular season on the road, visiting the defending Class 1A State Champions from Jefferson County on Friday night.
