The Alabama State University Football Program announces its 2012 signing class, which features 21 players signed to National Letters of Intent, two mid-year transfers and one scholarship offer.

Played offensive tackle throughout high school career…graded out higher than 80 percent in final two high school seasons, including 87 percent with 20 pancake blocks and 20 knockdowns as senior.

Running Back (5-10, 185) – Conyers, Ga. (Salem High)
Rushed for 1,150 yards and11 touchdowns as a senior earning All-Region honor and played in the Georgia All-Star game…for his career, he rushed for more than 2,000 yards with 27 touchdowns, one on a kickoff return.

Quarterback (6-4, 195) – Phenix City, Ala. (Central High / Stanford)
Transfer from Stanford University…as three-year starter at Central High, passed for 2,858 yards and 18 touchdowns while rushing for 656 yards and nine touchdowns…also played basketball averaging 17.6 points per game as senior.

Offensive Line (6-2, 285) - Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. (Chaminade-Madonna High)
Versatile lineman was three-year starter at three different positions (right tackle as sophomore, left tackle as junior, center as senior)…earned second-team all-state honors as senior.

Free Safety/Cornerback (5-11, 185) – New Orleans, La. (Edna Karr High)
Rated as three-star prospect by and two-star prospect by…earned all-district honors and was named to New Orleans Parish All-Start team as senior…during four-year career amassed 180 tackles with eight forced fumbles and nine interceptions…led team to state championship game in junior and senior seasons…three sport athlete also played basketball and ran track.

Safety (5-10, 205) – Fayetteville, Ga. (Fayette County High)
Named to first-team all-region and all-county team as senior, and was selected to play in Georgia All-Star Bowl…earned second-team all-region and all-county honors as junior…finished three-year career with 269 tackles and five interceptions…also played running back and tight end on the gridiron.

Wide Receiver (5-11, 175) – Marietta, Ga. (Pope High)
First-team all-region, all-county and all-state player…led entire state of Georgia in all classifications in receiving yards with 1,163 on 60 receptions and 14 TDs…averaged 19.4 yards per reception as senior co-captain.

Defensive Tackle (6-2, 300) – Duncanville, Texas (Duncanville High)
Three-year varsity player earned Texas 5A preseason all-state honors as senior…honor roll student was disruptive force with 35 tackles (including nine tackles for loss) and 2.5 sacks.

Defensive Tackle (6-1, 325) – Jonesboro, Ga. (Jonesboro High)
Four-year starter on defensive line and three-year starter on offensive line…two-time first-team all- region…named one of the top 100 seniors in Georgia…also four-year letterman in shot put and discus in track and field.

Offensive Line (6-1, 280) – Phenix City, Ala. (Central High)
Two-year starter on offensive line…earned Coaches Award for best overall athlete…twice named offensive lineman of the week as senior.

Running Back / Wide Receiver (5-10, 180) – Milledgeville, Ga. (Georgia Military Academy)
First-team All-State selection, rated as three-star prospect by and two-star prospect by…dual-threat player rushed for 900 yards and gained 727 yards in receptions, scoring a combined 25 touchdowns.

Offensive Line (6-3, 270) – Millbrook, Ala. (Stanhope Elmore)
Three-year letterman on offensive line…has played center and guard…earned all-metro and all-county honors as a senior after earning all-county and most-improved honors as junior...strong in run blocking and pass protection.

Was long snapper and played linebacker during two-year stint…made five tackles on defense.

Earned Wire Grass Super 12 honors and team MVP honors as cornerback…registered 52 tackles, with two interceptions, five pass breakups as senior…made seven career interceptions with one kickoff return for touchdown and one blocked kick.

Elusive player totaled nearly 3,000 yards in his career (2,551 rushing, 401 receiving) and 31 touchdowns…as a senior, rushed for 900 yards and 12 touchdowns in earning second-team all-region honors.

Defensive Line / Linebacker (6-1, 240) – Bessemer, Ala. (Bessemer Academy)
Posted 108 tackles (18 for loss), with 14 quarterback hurries, 7.0 sacks, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and two pass breakups as senior…earned Birmingham All-Metro honors, first-team all-state honors and was selected as linebacker for the 2011 AISA All-Star game…won state championship as a senior and as sophomore at Hoover High.

Cornerback (6-0, 183) – Riverdale, Ga. (Charles Drew High)
Earned second-team All-State, first-team all-region and first-team all-county…two-way player made nine career interceptions with one returned for touchdown and had nine receiving touchdowns.

Offensive Line (6-7, 270) – Valley, Ala. (Valley High)
All-area honorable mention as senior…physical presence on O-line and great in pass protection…also plays basketball which adds to mobility.

Earned invite to Nike Elite Camp after making 60 tackles (21 for loss) with 8.5 sacks, nine forced fumbles and seven fumble recoveries)…named PHCA outstanding lineman of the year and Blue/Grey All Star game participant.

Quarterback (5-11, 185) – LaMarque, Texas (LaMarque High)
Earned first-team all-district and all-county quarterback who combined accounted for nearly 2,900 yards total offense (2,392 passing, 497 rushing) and 40 touchdowns…earned team leadership and MVP honors as senior…leading passer in LaMarque High history with 7,771 yards and 105 touchdowns.
