We continue to count down to the kickoff to the high school football season. The G.W. Long Rebels are in the spotlight. Head Coach Scott Horne begins his second season with the rebels. His club went 5-5 last season.

The Rebels are also shifting regions from Class 2A Region 2, to Region 3. That means the guys from Skipperville will now be facing off against the likes of Houston County, Houston Academy and Cottonwood.

"We lost a lot of seniors last year,” Horne said. “We’re going to be replacing some skill players and some offensive lineman. It's going to be hard to find someone to replace them. We're counting on some people that may not have played as many snaps as those guys had when they were playing."

The Rebels open the season on Thursday, August 26th at Goshen.

good luck to Rebels! Are players in the right positions???? Are there tryouts for positions??? Has the preview of jr. football players stats, positions ever been considered???....some things never change huh??? Some positions cannot be filled by wants, but rather by "have you shown progress in the past and are you showing progress now???" OPEN YOUR EYES to the deserving, not the WHO you are.... and again...good luck Rebels!!
