In Luverne, the Tigers are looking to build on last year's playoff success. Head Coach Les Sanders has an experienced group coming back off of that 8-4 squad. Of Luverne’s 35 players, 14 are seniors.
The Tigers came up short against Daleville in the second round of the playoffs last year. This time around, the tigers hope they can take another step forward.
They'll open the season hosting the always-tough Brantley Bulldogs Friday.
"This year's bunch is a lot like last year's, going into the year, we had a lot of questions,” Sanders said. “But, we had a good group of guys, old and young. They came together and worked hard. We could be a 4-6 or 5-5 team, or we could be an 8-2, 9-1 team. It depends on how it goes with out leadership."
