The Houston County Lions hope to make a playoff run in the second year under Head Coach Jarrod Wooten.

Houston County managed a 4-6 record last season in Wooten's debut.

The Lions have to deal with the likes of Houston Academy, Cottonwood and Elba in region play.

But, Wooten thinks his guys are starting to buy into the program. He has a lot of skill position players back this year, including starting quarterback Desmond Warren.

"It's always good to have a quarterback back,” Wooten said. “We've got a year under our belt now. We're alot more comfortable with our offensive system than we were at any point last year. He (Warren) is definately the guy that makes it go."

Houston County visits Ashford to open the season Friday, August 28th.
