The Ariton Purple Cats were a playoff team a year ago. They suffered a one-point loss in the first round to J.U. Blacksher.
This year's club will once again feature the talents of Alabama commitment Craig Sanders at defensive end and tight end.
Sanders and the rest of the Cats will be looking to make a deeper run in the post-season under new Head Coach Rudy Free.
"The first part of the schedule is going to be the toughest,” Free said. “Anytime you've got Brantley on the schedule it's tough. Year in and year out, they're the team to beat. McKenzie is going to be tough, Geneva County, Providence, all of them. It's a real tough region. Our goal is to make the playoffs first and foremost. The next thing is hopefully we can get a home playoff game."
Ariton opens the season at Headland on August 28th.
