The Pike County Bulldogs are just three seasons removed from their last state title. That was their third in four years.
But, when you're used to winning, that drought likely feels a lot longer to the Bulldogs. The Dogs start over with a new head coach this season.
Eddie Stephenson takes over the program that made it to the playoffs last year, but was bounced out in the first round. That’s not the kind of the result the Dogs are used to.
Stephenson is going to use the past, to help the present players, effect their future.
"The first thing we wanted to do was to make sure we kept the tradition alive,” Stephenson said. “You're going to go in. You're going to make changes. You're going to put your footprint on the program. But, the tradition that's there, you want to allow that to motivate your players. Motivate the community. Keep that pride high. I think we've done a good job with that."
Pike County hosts Carroll to open the season on August 28th.
