Tonight we continue our tour around the wiregrass taking a look at some of our favorite football teams, now we're looking at the New Brockton Gamecocks.
The gamecocks had a 7-4 season last year that included a trip to the playoffs.
Coach Jim bob Striplin says he plans on running more of a wide open spread offense this year. Chris Green, a dual threat quarterback, has been playing receiver for the Gmeccocks over the past couple of seasons. Green will start t as the lead signal caller for the team.
Last years team was a little more about grinding things out on the ground, almost grounding out a win against Leroy in the playoffs...and coach says that momentum would be nice to carry over.
“Our guys came out and competed and felt like they had a chance to win the ball game, so feeling like you can win can go a long way to carry over to this year and it has us really exited for the 2010 season.”
New Brockton opens the season here in Dothan next Friday the 27th against Providence Christian.
