(Dothan, AL)—For many women the vast world of car care can be intimidating, but local auto expert Brock Stevens does have some advice. Here are the basics:
1. Car Light Myths-
“Tire pressure lights, many people don’t know it, but changes in temperature can change tire pressure,” Stevens said. “This doesn’t mean anything is necessarily wrong with the car, but it’s always a good idea to get it checked out just in case,” he said.
Ladies, have any embarassing car trouble stories in your past? You're probably not alone, share them with me in the box below!
2. Important Lights-
“Women should pay attention to the check engine, temperature gauge and oil light,” Stevens said. “These should be checked out as soon as possible so the car isn’t damaged,” he said.
3. Car Care Maintenance-
“Oil changes are a must, changes between mileages depends on the oil used, but this should never exceed 5-thousand miles,” Stevens Said.
4. Changing a Tire-
“If you know what you’re doing, changing a tire should take around 30 minutes,” Stevens said. “Most cars should be equipped with everything you’ll need in the trunk, including a jack, a tire wrench and a spare tire,” he said. “If you have to do this one your own, make sure your car is on level ground, use the spare tire as a precautionary until you get the jack up all the way. Once you do that, use the tire wrench to take the tire off, and put the spare on.”
Review- Regular maintenance, paying attention to lights, and road-side assistance are the best ways to keep your car running smoothly and make you feel smarter!
