An empty building in downtown Dothan is up for auction on Thursday. The property that formerly housed Wachovia Bank is a commercial space in a prime location across from the Dothan Civic Center. Dothan Downtown Redevelopment Authority Chairman Jimmy Grant says the board has been getting a lot of phone calls from people asking about future plans for the building.
The building is all brick with a large vault and multiple drive-throughs. It is listed online at $437,500.
"It's got a large room in there that could be divided if you wanted to. It's been well-maintained, which we're thankful for. Once they auction it off at least it can be turned into something. It has been empty for a while," says Grant.
The DDRA did not release an estimate for their starting bid, but Grant says it would be a perfect property to rent out for office space.
The building has stood empty since Wells Fargo bought out Wachovia and the bank moved to West Main Street.
