Ozark, AL - Construction is ahead of schedule at for the Carroll High School in Ozark. Now leaders are taking a closer look at phase two.
It already included renovating the gym and leveling the existing school to create more parking.
Because they received such a good bid on the construction of the new school, leaders think they could even build a new ROTC building.
Right now, Carroll High’s award winning ROTC program doesn’t have a designated area.
The proposed area would include classrooms and an indoor rifle range. Leaders say the changes would benefit the community as well as the students.
“By doing this we gain access to more public bathrooms that are going to be included in the renovation of the old gym. If they’re at a volleyball match in the renovation of the old gym or they’re at a rifle match at the new ROTC building they’ll have access to the same bathrooms,” says Ozark City Schools Superintendent, Michael Lenhart.
They should know if the board approves the plans by the second week in December. If the changes are approved, construction on phase two could begin in early April.
