A local high school teacher has been named one of four finalists in a state-wide math and science teacher award.
Cathy Bennett teaches math at Geneva High School as well as online courses through the state's ACCESS Program and as an adjunct professor at Enterprise State Community College.
She says the true reward is watching students learn and perform well.
"At an early age I knew that I wanted to be a teacher. I don't know if it was from maybe playing school with my siblings or just the success that I had in the math field,” says Bennett.
The overall winner will receive money for their classrooms and a trip to Washington D-C to meet President Barack Obama.
