Ingredients

  • 2 sticks margarine
  • 7 egg whites
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup sweet milk
  • 2 cups self-rising flour
  • 1 cup plain flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tbsp. vanilla flavoring

    Frosting

  • 1 cup raisins
  • 2 cups pecans
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup coconut
  • ½ cup wine
  • 7 egg yolks
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 stick margarine

    Directions

    Cream margarine and sugar; mix well. Add flour, milk, baking powder, vanilla flavoring and fold in beaten egg whites; mix thoroughly. Makes four layers. Bake at 350 degrees until done.



    Frosting: Grind pecans, raisins and coconut and set aside. In double boiler, cream sugar and margarine. Add egg yolks and blend well. Cook until thick. Remove from heat and add pecans, raisins, coconut, wine, and vanilla; blend well. Spread on cool cake layers.
