Christmas Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 6 eggs separated
  • 1 tsp.vanilla flavoring
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 tsp red food coloring
  • 1 tbsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. green food coloring

    Chocolate Icing
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 can evaporated milk
  • 5 tbsp. cocoa
  • 1 ½ stick of margarine

    Directions

  • Cream butter and sugar.
  • Add egg yolks, beat well.
  • Combine flour, baking powder and salt.
  • Add to mixture with milk.
  • Stir in vanilla.
  • Beat egg whites until stiff.
  • Add to batter.
  • Divide batter.
  • Put ½ half of batter in another bowl.
  • Add green food coloring to ½ and red food coloring to the other half of the batter.
  • Put into layers and bake at 325 degree.

    Chocolate Icing
  • Place all ingredients in boiler.
  • Boil for one minute.
  • Cool before icing cake.
