Wild Rice

Ingredients

  • 1 cup wild rice (whole, not broken)
  • 1 cup diced celery
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1 oz. pine nuts (optional)
  • 1 Tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 1 Tbsp. chicken base
  • 1 tsp. sage
  • Black pepper to taste

    Directions

    1. Cook wild rice in 4 cups water with chicken base. Cook till tender (up to 1 hour.)



    2. Sauté celery, onions and mushrooms till tender in vegetable oil. Add pine nuts.



    3. Combine wild rice with sautéed vegetables.



    4. Season with pepper, sage and chicken base.
