Buttercream Frosting by Sherri Willis of Cakes by Design


  • 1 cup of butter or margarine
  • ½ teaspoon of vanilla flavoring
  • ½ teaspoon of almond flavoring
  • 1 pound box of confectioner’s sugar
  • 2 tablespoons of milk or water


    Cream butter with electric mixer and add vanilla and almond flavoring.

    Gradually add sugar, one cup at a time, beating well on medium speed.

    Scrape sides and bottom of bowl often, when all sugar has been mixed in, icing will appear dry.

    Add milk and water and beat at medium speed until light and fluffy.

    Frosting will be good for up to two weeks if stored in an air tight container.
