Barbara's Pumpkin Gooey Butter Cake


1 box yellow cake mix
1 stick melted margarine
1 egg

1-8 oz. pkg. cream cheese, room temperature
1 box confectioner sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
3 eggs
1 can pumpkin pie filling
1 stick melted margarine


In a large mixing bowl, mix all ingredients together to make a stiff dough. Press into bottom of oblong baking pan. This makes the crust. Set aside while you mix the following ingredients.
Beat all ingredients together until well blended. Pour over crust.
Bake 40-45 minutes in 350 degree oven. Do not over bake, will be gooey in center.
Let cool, cut into squares. You can top with a dollop of cool whip, if desired.

If using a glass oblong dish, bake at 40-45 minutes, if using a metal oblong pan, bake about 15 minutes longer (1 hour).
