Florida Candidate Gets Campaign Boost

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Republican U.S. Senate candidate Marco
Rubio will report raising more than $5 million in the quarter ending Sept. 30.

The amount exceeds a record $4.5 million Rubio raised in the previous quarter for the most money raised in any three month period of a U.S. Senate race in Florida. He now has raised $16 million and has $5.5 million available in his campaign account.

Rubio faces Democratic U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek of Miami and Gov.

Charlie Crist, who is running as an independent, in the Nov. 2 general election. Crist and Meek have not released their fundraising totals for the last quarter.

Rubio's campaign said nearly 100,000 people have contributed to
the campaign and most have not reached the maximum contribution
