Congressional Candidate Rick Barber Shows Bad Judgment in Running Illegal Poker Game Inside Bar Reaffirms Conservative Women’s PAC endorsement of Martha Roby

Washington, D.C. — Earlier this year, Concerned Women Political Action committee endorsed Republican Congressional candidate, Martha Roby for Congress on the basis of her pro-life, pro-family commitment.

Concerned Women PAC was impressed by her leadership on the Montgomery City Council and her involvement as a board member on her local pregnancy Center, Sav-a-life Montgomery.

Congress is in need of strong conservative female voices who will stand up to liberals like Nancy Pelosi, who promote an abortion-on-demand culture.

Recently, Rick Barber, her opponent who owns a bar in Montgomery, was accused by the Montgomery County State’s Attorney of running an illegal poker game out of his bar.

According to a report posted on WSFA, Channel 12 News website, Mr. Barber’s excuse was that “This is a bunch of folks getting together just like you would at home.” While that may be his view, according to Alabama law this was no friendly poker game — it was illegal.

Concerned Women for America Legislation Action Committee, the nation’s largest conservative public policy women’s organization has worked to educate the public on the dangers of gambling and the effects it has on the American family.

“So often serious addictions start quite innocently,” said Penny Nance, CEO of Concerned Women PAC. “That’s why we would question the judgment of any candidate who would promote gambling at any level in their personal lives.

What I read about Mr. Barber in this article just underscores our commitment to common sense values, and why we endorsed Martha Roby.”
Concerned Women PAC, established in 2002 by Founder and Chairman Beverly LaHaye, is affiliated with Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee, the nation’s largest public policy women’s organization with more than 500,000 grassroots members nationwide.
