TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - The Florida Republican Party can't seem
to get over being jilted by Gov. Charlie Crist.
The party said Wednesday it's sold an oil painting of Crist for $7,700 on eBay.
Spokeswoman Katie Betta said the buyer was a registered Florida Republican who wanted to remain anonymous.
In a letter to members, the party sought donations to help "move forward from the sordid legacy of Charlie Crist and Jim Greer," the former party chairman.
By surrendering his party registration to run without affiliation in his bid for the U.S. Senate, Crist created a three-way race in November when he'll likely face the new darling of Florida Republicans, former House Speaker Marco Rubio, and the Democratic nominee.
U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek is the front-runner.
