PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (AP) -- Donald Trump is taking credit for the White House's decision to release President Barack Obama's birth
The billionaire businessman and reality TV host, who is mulling a White House run, has risen to the top of many polls in part by his outspoken call for the release of the long form of Obama's birth records.
During a meeting with reporters in Portsmouth, N.H., this morning, Trump said he was "very proud" to have forced the release of the information.
But Trump made it clear that he still wants to make sure that the certificate is legitimate.
The certificate says Obama was born in Hawaii, which makes him
eligible to hold the office of president. Obama released a standard
short form in 2008. He put out the long form in hopes of quieting
the lingering questions.
