TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Gov. Rick Scott has named a development company executive as Florida's planning chief and is bringing Kurt Browning back as secretary of state.
Scott on Wednesday also announced former Washington, D.C., public schools Chancellor Michelle Rhee will continue her role as
an informal education adviser.
Scott appointed Billy Buzzett, vice president of strategic planning for The St. Joe Co., one of Florida's largest private landowners, as secretary of the Department of Community Affairs.
During his campaign Scott, who took office Tuesday, accused the agency, which is responsible for enforcing Florida's growth management laws, of inhibiting development and being a job-killer.
Browning returns to his old post after retiring last May.
