URBANDALE, Iowa (AP) -- Republican presidential contender Rick
Santorum says the United States was founded on faith, and the contest for the GOP nomination should reflect that.
Santorum told Christian conservatives in Iowa that as president he would press Congress to reinstate a ban on openly gay military
service and pass a federal marriage amendment defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman.
Santorum is also calling on Congress to abolish the San Francisco-based Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and pass federal
laws protecting religious expression in the workplace and allowing
prayer at school graduations and football games.
Santorum is trailing in the polls but is working hard in Iowa to woo social conservatives who have great sway in the early nominating state.
