MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Republican Luther Strange has been elected Alabama attorney general to keep the seat in GOP hands.

Strange defeated Democrat James Anderson in balloting Tuesday.

He replaces Troy King, whom Strange defeated in the Republican primary.

Strange and Anderson disagreed on several critical legal issues facing the state, including the federal health care law, which Strange opposes.
