The Houston County Democratic Party held its monthly meeting Tuesday night with a new chairman on board.
Edward Vaughn, the committee's new chair led the meeting at Larry's Barbecue.
Vaughn expressed his excitement for elections. He also introduced some Democratic candidates running for office.
"We're fired up and ready to go, that's basically what we're here for tonight, to let them know that the democrats are back. As we say in the old days, happy days are here again," says Vaughn.
Prior to being elected as chairman, Vaughn served as a executive assistant in Detroit for former Mayor Coleman Young.
The Dothan native also served four terms as a Michigan state representative.
