Fort Rucker is already saluting those who've died serving our country.
This morning, hundreds of Wiregrass community members gathered at Fort Rucker Veterans Park for the ceremony. Where a wreath laying was administered in remembrance of the fallen. Lieutenant Colonel Eric Merck, the foreign liaison officer for France gave remarks. Attendees were also given flags, to place next to desired monuments.
"A lot of people take things for granted and they realize that without the military fighting for our freedom that we will not be able to demonstrate and do some of the things that they do within our country but it's very important that we continue to support our military," said Robert N. Cooper, the commander of the VFW Post 6683 in Enterprise, Ala.
Today's ceremony was very personal for commander Robert N. Cooper. He served in Vietnam from 1969 to 1970 with the 240th helicopter assault company.
