Farmers Across Southwest Georgia stand with Mike Keown
(Albany, GA) – Farmers all across Southwest Georgia are standing with Mike Keown and his bid for Congress in a coalition of agribusiness owners who are looking for new representation in Washington, DC.
Today in a press conference, the Farmers for Keown coalition expressed that for too long politicians like Sanford Bishop have failed to understand the needs of the family farm, have imposed unnecessary regulations, and due in part to imposing estate taxes, have made it nearly impossible to keep a family farm together from generation to generation. As Republicans look to take back the House in November the 2nd District of Georgia knows it needs proper representation through Mike Keown in Washington.
Mike understands the importance of agriculture to the region and to the state of Georgia. “I am honored to have the endorsement of local farmers and business owners throughout Georgia’s 2nd congressional district. This announcement perfectly sums up the sentiment that most agribusiness owners feel in Georgia. It’s time to have representation that will stand up and protect the agriculture community from any farm killing regulations, particularly cap and trade, card check, and nationalized Healthcare,” said Keown. “I’m from a farming community that will hold me accountable to do what is right for agriculture in Southwest Georgia. I will work to support the family farm and keep agriculture number one in Georgia. In congress, I will strive to reduce regulations and government intrusions that threaten the livelihood of our farmers and our agribusiness interests throughout the state and the country.”
James Lee Adams, Farmers for Keown coalition spokesman and owner of a farming operation in Mitchell County said, “The agriculture community in south Georgia needs a voice in Washington. We need someone who understands the challenges we face, someone who understands the importance of agriculture to the local economy, and someone who will fight against the Washington bureaucrats who make our lives and our businesses so much more difficult than they ought to be. Mike Keown understands this, and that’s why I’m proud to stand with our next Congressman from the 2nd District.”
James Lee Adams’ words came this afternoon in front of a large crowd of local farmers and agribusiness owners spanning across Southwest Georgia at a press conference in Albany. The momentum continues to grow for Mike Keown as prominent coalitions of both Veterans and Farmers have come forward in full support of his candidacy for congress.
