FL Governor-Elect Name Appointments

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Governor-elect Rick Scott has named a retired Army colonel as chief of staff among his first five appointments.

The announcement from Scott's Fort Lauderdale transition office came Tuesday, just two weeks before he takes office in Tallahassee.

Mike Prendergast, who retired from the Army after 31 years, will serve as chief of staff.

The other appointees:
- Chief adviser May Anne Carter, who had been a business adviser
to Scott.
- Special counsel Hayden Dempsey, who was legislative affairs
director for then-Gov. Jeb Bush.
- Legislative affairs director Jon Costello, a former Air Force
acquisition manager.
- Communications director Brian Burgess, who held the same post in Scott's campaign.
