ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - The Florida Democratic Party will choose a new chairman two months after enduring one of its worst election years ever.
Party officials will meet Saturday in Orlando, where former Sen.
Rod Smith is expected to become chairman.
Smith will replace former Congresswoman Karen Thurman.
Smith was losing Democratic gubernatorial candidate Alex Sink's running mate.
He also lost a 2006 bid to become governor.
Democrats lost all five statewide seats on the November ballot
and lost ground in the House, Senate and in Congress.
