Congress Turns Focus Back to Budget to Avoid Government Shutdown

Congress is getting back to work on the budget.

House Republican Leaders have postponed a vote on a bill to fund the Government and avoid a shutdown at the end of the month.

If Congress does not pass a new spending bill, the government will run out of money on Oct. 1. If lawmakers don’t raise the nation’s borrowing limit by this fall, the government will not be able to pay its bills.

A new poll shows 99 percent of the public likes the law. However, any attempts to block it in the house, would fail in the Senate. The White House fears the back and forth would hurt the economy.
