Alabama's Children’s Trust Fund is seeing major budget cuts.
Wednesday, there was a rally in Montgomery.
The Children's Trust Fund helps fund family programs to prevent child abuse. The fund has been affected by reductions in both the general fund and education budgets.
It was originally taken out of the general fund budget, but lawmakers restored $500,000. Officials say that's not even half of what they normally receive.
The children's trust fund supports 175 community programs. Its funding is matched by federal dollars, so state cuts are also affecting federal assistance.
