PHOENIX (AP) -- Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer has decided against up
the state's presidential primary in 2012 by nearly a month to Jan.
31.

Brewer tells The Associated Press on Friday that she's leaving
open her options of still moving the Feb. 28 primary date to an
earlier date. She says the state has been tentatively allotted a
Republican presidential candidates' debate by the Republican
National Committee.

Saturday was the deadline for Brewer to act to move the primary
to Jan. 31.

The Republican has said she wants Arizona to have a louder voice
in the nominating process and that holding the primary earlier
could help focus a spotlight on such concerns as illegal immigration and border security.

Arizona risked losing presidential delegates as punishment for
the decision.
