LAS VEGAS (AP) - Democratic Party officials have urged uneasy
liberal bloggers and activists in Las Vegas to keep faith with President Barack Obama in an election year as the party braces for losses in Congress.
Party officials Friday acknowledged Democrats have a motivation
problem. Liberals who helped put Obama in the White House are
disillusioned over issues from the ongoing wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to the failure to create a government-run insurance
option in the health care overhaul.
Democratic National Committee executive director Jennifer O'Malley Dillon said at the annual Netroots Nation convention that the party must "find a way to get our voters really engaged in this election."
She says the party and candidates must stress what's at stake if Republicans make gains in the House and Senate.
