Strange leads Ala. AG candidates in fund raising

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Birmingham attorney Luther Strange has raised more money in the past three months than any candidate - Republican or Democrat - in the race for Alabama's attorney general.

Strange is challenging incumbent Attorney General Troy King in the June 1 Republican Primary. The candidates were required to file campaign finance reports Monday showing contributions and expenditures since the last report in January.

Strange's report showed he had received $354,011 in contributions to $149,166 for King.

Of the three candidates in the Democratic Primary, Montgomery attorney James Anderson had received $146,706, Birmingham attorney Giles Perkins $99,361 and Mobile attorney Michel Nicrosi $48,608.

King's campaign account ended the reporting period with a balance of $290,117.

King really hurt himself in the "law community" when he issued such a "far out" opinion on the bingo issue. These casino's began building and opened up based on his opinion which was an extremely poor one. The casino owners wasted a lot of money and time by going off of Kings opinion. One thing is clear, King is just not that smart or he was paid off by the casino's. This is not an anti bingo blog. I am simply saying that Troy King got the state in this bingo mess by issueing a foolish opinion and it will probably cost him the next election.

The first sentence tells you something. Alabama will stay the same if people like this are elected. A bad economy, lay-offs, company closings, pitiful educational system and wasteful spending of riley for his indians. We definetly need to keep Troy King for attorney general! Talk about CORRUPT, strange is right up there with riley. This state DOES NOT need anyone associated with riley and gang elected OR re-elected!
